General gaming addiction...
I love gaming and I always have at different levels. Lately, I have really gotten into more intense, complex games. This last Sunday, I tried Twilight Imperium for the first time by Fantasy Flight games. We played (on and off) for about 8 hours. Even then, we did not finish the game. This was mostly due to it being my first time playing it as well as my husband's. It was a very complex game and it took forever to get through the rules. Still, we really got into it later on as it began to sink in.
What it has done is sparked another flood of gaming for us. Luckily, I'm married to a fellow gaming geek. So, we play a great many games together alone. Of course, you are limited to the games which work well for 2 players then. It is still fun though and far more interactive than sitting in front of the "boob" tube together not talking.
Lately, we've been to 2 gaming conventions and had a brilliant time. We also bought a lot of games and tried out others which have been subsequently added to our wishlist. it really is a never ending cycle of gaming addiction. There are just too many terrific games out there!
At the game fair in Essen, Germany (De Spiel), we also got to meet some game designers and chat with them for awhile. That was also really interesting and finding out about the process they went through in designing them. Quite impressive really.
After a long illness though, it is lovely to be finally getting back the energy for some serious gaming! Yay! Who knows what I will post here next. Most likely about what game comes home with me next.
Since Christmas is quickly approaching, it seems a perfectly good time to give games as presents as well. Luckily, my husband loves getting game presents which we can both enjoy. I think that Twilight Imperium may just have to go on the wishlist for the holidays as well. :)
Happy Gaming!
