I'm curious what people think about the newest Wallace games that have come out. I recently got Waterloo and am enjoying it very much. I just recently learned about Automobile, God's Playground, and Steel Driver. Anyone give me any clues whether they are worth getting? |

From your list I've only tried Automobile and its one I would definitely recommend. Its an excellent econ game! Personally, I like how it emulates the economic growth of the car industry historically. The economics of budget vs. luxury cars, the pitfalls of overallocating production, the inefficiency of having too many dealerships, these mechanics put a good experience on the table that is not far from what the theme suggests. You should give it a try |

Unfortunately, I've only played part of a game of Steam. It's my game, however, and I'd really like to play a full game of it soon. I just haven't felt like spending the time explaing the rules. I think the basic rules might be really good for slightly more than casual gamers. If you want somewhat more than casual, there's also advanced rules that make money tighter and you auction off actions every round instead of just the first turn. If your group really likes Steam then maybe non-Martin-Wallace train games like the 18xx series could be your bag. |

Thomas, after failing disasterously at one game of Railroad Tycoon, I have shyed away from train games. If it is by Martin Wallace, I might it a try just to see if it is any different.
Canaria, I've seen Automobile and am looking forward to trying that one at a game convention sometime next year. It sounds familiar to Brass which is another one I want to try. |
